John, excellent feedback! To answer some of your questions, I make exactly 50% on each product line--the wall hangings and the jewelry. I consider the wall hangings my "art" and my jewelry is my bread-and-butter--easier to wholesale, make a catalog, etc. I see the jewelry as "financing" my art, as it were. The BMAC show offers me a chance get my artwork in front of some galleries, and hopefully generate more wholesale accounts for the jewelry. When I get "famous enough", I'll focus on the artwork only. As far as the pricing of the one-offs go (I *love* that phrase!) is that what fine furniture makers, etc. do? For example, if a craftsperson has a chair that retails for $3,000, a store would really only expect to make 10% on that price? I know in higher price ranges the mark-up is not as high as 50%, but 10% seems low.... I can already hear you telling me, "So, why don't you call some galleries and *ask*?" ;^)
