Website promotion is a huge mystery to most folks. And regardless of your site, your offerings or your own talents, it's just a lot of plain old hard work. There are thousands of firms out there on WWW waiting to take your money to promote your site. However, no one can do it better than you -- if you have the time and the inclination.
Why is the Stoneworks site as successful as it is? Several reasons off the top of my head: (1) it's been in business for more than twenty years with a large, loyal following; (2) it got onto the Internet back in 1996, so it ranks high with the search engines just because of its longevity; and (3) *art knives* or whatever search phrase one uses to get there defines a very small niche. And I might add that every bit of literature and print advertising produced is designed to do nothing more than drive traffic to the site.
Maybe I should do a FAQ on this topic.
Meanwhile, you should surf on over to About.com's Art/Craft Business portal where they can start you on your journey to understanding website promotion.
BTW, Laura. Please don't post any more images onto the message board. It just clutters it up. You already post a link to your site for people who are interested in seeing who you are. Thanks.
