I'm a bead artist with the age old problem of how to price my pieces. I make beaded amulet bags with Japanese Delica beads, semi-precious stones and silver and gold beads, not cheap materials. Most bags (2"X3" approx.) take about 20 hours to complete. If I were to even allow myself $10/hour (which by everyones account seems too low) then for labor alone we're talking about $200 for these. The work is labor intensive and I realize there is a market for hand-beaded jewelry but is this pricing way out of the ballpark or do I just not have enough faith in my product or possibly not tapping into the correct market? Any input on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
