The booth should look professional, not just drapery over steps.
Focus on the work. Simple pedestals often work best with potters. Industrial shelving might be ok for contemporary work if it shows the pottery well....if the work seems hidden and the colors aren't visibly clear, that's a deterrent.
It also depends upon the look of the work. If your work is earthy, handthrown with natural colors you might want a more rustic display. If it's brightly colored and funky you might use pedestals or shelving that complements the colors and unifies the booth. Visit some good shows and see how others display their work.
