"art comes in many forms and, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I'm a fly fisher, and the art of tying flies is every bit as authentic as anything produced by a hot glass artist. Fly tiers just have a different mindset -- they are most happy when their creations catch big trout. "

Thats a myth John. You can no more say beauty or art is anything you want it to be(or in the mind of the beholder) as you could say a fishing fly is anything you want it to be. The tied fly has to work. It has a sensibility and purpose that has to be followed or you may just end up with little pretty objects that don't catch fish. The same with art or in the case of your website, crafts. Is anything crafts? I suppose you can make the argument that there are some people that have the "mind set" to feel that little popsicle sticks trivetts are as much fine craft as a Sam Maloof chair. But thats just not true is it.
You don't "get away with anything" when you make art or fine craft. Your making something special.
