: Where do you find information on the market for handmade fans?

I think there was an article years ago in Victoria Magazine? on a woman who either made or sold antique fans. She may even have written a book on the subject. If your products are at all Victorian in flavor, then getting a story about your work into that magazine might give you an idea about what the possibilities are. Or check Ebay and see what the market is like for antique or vintage fans. Use the internet to surf and find what else is going on with this. I know a polymer clay artist who made lovely small fan pins in polymer clay--they became quite collectible. Not because they were fans per se, but because her work was eagerly sought after.

More importantly, I think if you enjoy making them, then you can actually create your own market for them. Everything has a market, whether you find it, develop it or grow it.
