Hi John - What a find this site is!!! Thank you!!!
I'm in a quandry and it's driving me crazy. I want to sell my things in nice upscale gift and home decor shops (wholesale correct?) I would love to do some really nice craft shows (retail) but at going on 70, it's just getting too darned hard - especially as I don't have any helpers. I love to create but don't like to sell at all. Given the above, how is the best way for me to get my work out to the shops that I want to carry it? It sells really well when people can touch it and hold it and kind of understand the finish on it but it's hard to describe with pictures alone.
I have just revised my website for the nthtyth time and it is now wholesale only - any my response is a lot better. I have had trackers on the site since I started and before the change it was mostly just browsers but now getting requests for information. I also have a couple of free sites (ucraftmall etc) for retail (double my wholesale)and getting a little response off of them now also.
If you would, when you have time, take a look at my site and the price list page (user=reguser/password=geeg1223)- maybe my pricing is all goofy - I ran a price formula on a pair of fancy glasses and, because of my time involved (no material cost to speak of) came up with $114 wholesale!! which of course is impossible. I don't need to earn $20/hour - I really do this because I love to create but I don't want to demean my work by giving it away so I'm kind of going with what I think the traffic will bear. I definitely need more outlets for the work than I now have though - I don't have room in my house to just keep creating and not sell any of it.
I'm a retired accountant, by the way, so I have my material and overhead costs down to pretty much exact.
