I need some advice on pricing my artwork. I hand paint terracotta pots, mailboxes and furniture. Some are customized and some I just paint and they sell immediately. The current mailbox I am custom painting for someone I prepriced at 45.00, the customer bought her own mailbox, I supplied the paints which I already had. My trouble is I'm very particular about my work and I end up spending many more hours than what I charge. I know the simple answer would be don't spend so many hours or hike up the price, if I hike up the price then my elaborate pieces probably won't sell, or am I underestimating my ability. I love to paint and would like to someday have my own shop but I won't if I continue to underprice my work!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
