Qualification/Skills: Ceramics teacher skilled in hand building as well as wheel. Mastered techniques should include beginner as well as intermediate skills including, but not limited to Pinch pots, coil, slab, slip molds and free form. Although most instruction will be in hand building techniques, wheel skills are also requested. Low fire clays and commercial, non leaded glazes are used. We have a well equiped studio with three electric kilns.
Organization Profile: Block and Hexter Vacation Center of Associated Camps, Inc. provides recreational and educational vacations for adults aged 55+. Set on 530 wooded acres with our own 60-acre spring-fed lake, the Vacation Center is located in the far northeastern corner of Pennsylvania in Poyntelle, PA. The Center serves up to 240 mature adults for one and two week holidays. Activites range from crafts, fine arts and ceramics, to fitness activities, aerobics, Yoga, tennis, shuffleboard, bingo, boating, fishing, swimming in our heated pool, hikes, dance, drama, computer instruction, choral group, discussions and trivia games.
We also feature a college-level lecture series that runs throughout the summer. In the evenings we offer many special events and theme nights, as well as professional entertainment and talent shows. Occasionally, we host Intergenerational programs with children from nearby camps. We are also an official sponsor of Elderhostel programs.
Our facility features a large recreation hall, dining hall, art studios, a computer lab, tennis court, fully equipped fitness center, miles of nature trails, handball court, heat pool and whirlpool and lakeside pavilion. Guests are housed in private double rooms with private bathrooms set in nine guest buildings. Each building features its own private lounge.
Our staff come from all over the world and are mainly specialists in their fields, though we do have some general counselors. Our kitchen prepares three strictly kosher meals a day for our guests and staff. We offer full daily housekeeping services for our guests.
We serve a mainly Jewish clientele, though many of our staff are not Jewish. We are a beneficary of the UJA Federation of New York.
In addition to the general summer programs that we offer, we also run programs for the Jewish holidays including Passover, Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot. Our facility is also available for rental for retreat groups.

We are looking for staff with a desire to work with older adults. They should have specific skills and be comfortable teaching older adults. We are also looking for discussion leaders, administrative staff and qualified fitness/aerobic instructors. We also need a Yoga/Tai Chi instructor.
