How to attract visitors to your webstore?

I hope you don't feel like being flooded by my questions. The thing is that I read in John's newsletter that Stoneworks is doing very well with its webstore and wonder how it manages to attract so many visitors. Are they old customers? What is the percentage of new customers that jump to the webstore at random? I've been runing my webstore for about 10 month and the selling is still very little. The layout is nice, and the crafts presented are really original but still is not enough. I listed the site in the main search engines (Yahoo, MSN, Aol, etc.) and it is linked to and from other compatible sites. Last month it was featured in the front page of my ISP and it got thousands of clicks. That was great and I started feeling like amazon.com's small sister. I also spent $30 for "payed words" at go.com. All I got was a bunch of curious guys who drained my money. Is there anybody there who are getting lots of visitors and their site is not called eBay? What did you do, John, to drive such a success back in 1998? Any clue will be much appreciated.
