My First Catalog

Hi- First of all, thanks for your website, you are really generous giving us all this information. It's your experience translated in words, AND work. I know what it takes to build a website firsthand! Now my question: I prepared my first catalog with my new color printer. It's a good color printer (HP 970Cxi) and I also learnt QuarkExpress and some Photoshop, so I prepared my own layout, photos and all. My family & friend saw my artwork and were pretty impressed. They say my catalog looks "professional". I am also quite happy with the results. However, I know that the people "out there" might think in a different way. Is it "less professional" to introduce yourself at a wholesale show with a home print catalog than a true printed sheet (I mean, a real one that may cost no less than $400-500)? If this is no blunder, I would go ahead with the home sheet, at least for a while. My goods are mostly one-of-a-kind, so the home printer gives me freedom to change it as often as I need. So the question is: Will buyers take me less seriously because I am showing them the home thing?
